Network Tools for the iPhone and Mac

Edit on your iPhone

RemoteTap 4 allows you to edit any custom key, both it's "title" (the text displayed on the virtual key) and it's "sequence". A sequence can contain any number of keystrokes and commands. Start by tapping on the custom keyboard button in the toolbar.

Edit custom keys right on your iPhone

To edit a custom key, tap and hold it until the custom key editor view appears. The example below shows the definition of the key "A". Use the built-in keyboard to edit both the title and the sequence.

The sequence can contain any number of "strokes" (keys and commands). Delete single strokes using the delete key. Move single strokes to a different position within the sequence by:

1. Tap on the stroke to select it (see stroke "c" above)
2. Tap again and hold until all strokes start to shake
3. Move the stroke to the required position

Record macros and assign them to custom keys right on your iPhone

A quicker way to define multiple stroke sequences is the record macro feature in RemoteTap. To record strokes try this:

1. In the custom key edit dialog, tap on the red record macro button
2. The custom keyboard will be displayed, with the edited key indicated by a red recording symbol (see above)
3. Use both the standard keyboard and any custom keyboard to record your sequence
4. When finished, go back to the edited key, tap on it, and tap on "Done" to save the changes

Adjust custom keyboard iPhone Settings

The iPhone Settings for RemoteTap contain the following options for custom keyboards:

• Edit Keyboards - enable key editing on the iPhone
• Sync Keyboards - enable keyboard syncing between iPhone and Mac (when requested by clicking the "Sync Now" button in the preference pane)
• Reset All Keyboards - remove all user edited keyboards and install default keyboards after next login (all you edited keybaords on the iPhone will be deleted!)
